 Background

I was awarded a PhD degree from the Department of Physics, University of Warwick in 2023. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Molecular Laser Dynamics Group at the School of Chemistry of University of Bristol between 2022 and 2023. I am now a research assistant at SINANO CAS and a lecturer at Quzhou University.

 Research

Exciton dynamics of filled single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs)

SWCNTs are 1D material that has an extremely high aspect ratio, which favor Auger recombination of excitons. By filling sub-1 nm-wide SWCNTs with quasi-one atom-thick HgTe chains, the Auger recombination rates of SWCNTs are modified, which is explained by the chirality-dependent change in the electron-phonon coupling strength.

Exciton and exciton-coupled phonon decay dynamics of HgTe-filled (8,5) revealed by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy

Filling-induced strain effect on SWCNTs

Filling sub-1 nm-wide semiconducting SWCNTs with quasi-one atom-thick HgTe chains alters the uniaxial strain on SWCNTs, as can be varified by a family type-dependent shift in the interband transition energies of nanotubes. The study opens the way of precisely controlling the optical properties of SWCNTs.

Solvatochromism of filled SWCNTs and long-range interaction between dye molecules and filled SWCNTs in solutions

The large polarizability of SWCNTs along the tube axis makes it interesting to study the micro-scale local environment of SWCNTs suspended in solutions. Here, by applying sovatochromic dye as a fluorescence probe, a modified strength of interaction between SWCNTs and molecules due to atomic chain encapsulation can be demonstrated. The research contributes to the development of new methods to modulate the nonlinear optical response of solution-state organic-inorganic systems.
